Aluminum is available in different standard sizes and can be easily cut to fit a particular application. Aluminum is a moderately inexpensive sign substrate that is mostly used for long term outdoor signs, for example a real estate signs, store front main signs, and traffic signage, etc.
This substrate is typically .040 inches thick which is idea for wall or frame mounted signs. For larger free-standing signs, either .063" or .080" is recommended. A better alternative for larger free-standing signs is to use an aluminum composite substrate.
